What a custom website costs when you hire a remote team
Quotes for the same website can differ several times over, and the number on its own tells you little. This guide explains what actually drives the price when you hire a remote team, and how to compare quotes fairly.
What drives the price
A small business site with a handful of pages and a contact form usually goes live in a few weeks. An online store, a booking flow or a customer portal is weeks, because each one needs its own logic, testing and edge cases. The biggest price drivers are almost always the same.
- Number of distinct page layouts, not the number of pages
- How you edit content: fixed pages, a simple editor, or a full content system
- Integrations such as payments, bookings, WhatsApp, a CRM or accounting software
- Custom logic: logins, quotes, dashboards, AI assistants
- Languages, accessibility requirements and how much content the team has to write
How remote teams structure quotes
A quote should list what is included, what is not, and how changes are priced. Whether to pay a fixed price or by the hour depends on how settled your scope is; our guide to fixed-price and hourly contracts covers that choice.
How to compare quotes fairly
Send every team the same short brief and ask them to reply with a written scope. A low quote often leaves things out, such as content entry, hosting set-up or search basics. A high one may include work you do not need. Line the scopes up side by side before you look at the totals.
- Is the price fixed against a written scope?
- Are the code repository, domain and hosting accounts registered to you?
- Is hosting included, and can you move it elsewhere later?
- What does support or a small change cost after launch?
- Is payment split into milestones you can check in a browser?
Costs after launch
Budget for the domain, hosting, any paid services such as email or a WhatsApp Business account, and occasional updates. A well-built site needs little maintenance, but security updates and small content changes never stop entirely. Ask for these costs in writing before you start, not after.
What Cassnetic Tech charges
We are a partner-led team in Malaysia working with clients worldwide. Projects outside Malaysia are quoted in US dollars, usually from US$1,000. Larger builds such as online stores, web apps and AI integrations are scoped first, then priced. The scope and price are fixed before work starts, and the code and domain are registered to you.
Frequently asked questions
Why do website quotes vary so much?
Teams assume different scopes. One quote may include content entry, hosting set-up and search basics while another leaves them out. Ask every team to price the same written scope.
